Recycled Trash Talkin'

Author: André L. Johnson
Date: March 26th, 2008
Some players talk trash on the court but Steve Nash is literally taking trash to the court. According to the Nike website they have teamed up with Steve Nash to offer an environmental friendly shoe to ball players made from recycled shoes. This is meant to help lessen the huge amounts of garbage made from shoes that pollute our atmosphere.
Steve Nash shoe is modeled after the Nike Zoom BB II low and meets Nike’s design standards. Visit the Nike Press Release
“Any opportunity to promote the environment and preserve our planet is a step in the right direction,” Nash said. “I’m very excited to be one of the first athletes to wear the Nike Trash Talk. I think people will love the shoe, and hopefully by wearing it I can inspire others to try it out as well.”
Some players talk the trash but Nash is carrying the torch as a true class act player by helping out any way he can to promote a better living. Basketball is a way of life, so go pick out your boi’s new kicks, and this is another reason ‘why he’s hot’ like MIMS. We’re hot and out at GC Hoopz.

Top 5 NBA Players & Side Kicks

The Hoopz League is proud to share the top 5 NBA players & Side Kicks of all time. Each brought smiles, laughs and nothing short of true entertainment. Check out each one as they show what it’s like to be the main man or alter ego. Watch ya think, Hoopz World?

5) Dwight Howard + Superman

All Star weekend in Las Vegas brought out all this stars in 2008. For Dwight Howard it was Superman in the Sprite Dunk Contest. Check his impression out in full form and he takes home the crown as the Sprite 2008 Slam Dunk Champion.

Watch as he takes flight with cap and ball and no kryptonite in site for this new Superman, Dwight Howard.

4) Michael Jordan + Spike Lee
Do you know, Do you know, Do you know, Do you know? We know Mars Blackmon as Spike Lee, who thinks the world of the basketball legend Michael Jordan. This is funny, luckily we don’t have friends that call like this all the time like Mars Blackmon. If so, we all would have to say goodbye, fairwell, aidos, say la vé, again ? Or whatever. Good bye Mars!

3) Lebron + the LeBrons
LeBron James brings a new type of alter ego with wise James, athletic James, mini James and business James. Watching this reminds me of what I might say to the family? Luckily they know the deal on a regular … haha!

2) Penny Hardaway + Chris Rock
Box out! The only time you guys yell box out is when you’re out of a box of doughnuts! Whew. Li’ Penny is at in again in this one and joined by a young and beautiful Tyra Banks. Pass on the box and make it a facial. Thanks Marv Albert!

1) Larry Johnson + Grandmama
Innovator and Instant classic! The whole nine; hair, lipstick, dress and even stockings in this video by Larry Johnson as Grandmama. I bought two pairs of these Converses’ because of Gandmama and if my grandma could play like that … I’ll move in! Ha!

HONORABLE MENTION

1) Kobe + Kenny Smith = Car Jump
2) Shaq + kids = Funny
3) George Muresan + ESPN = Dancing
4) Stick Man Do it Baby!

Give a moment of silence to one of America's Favorite funny man, Bernie Mac. "Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital," his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement from Los Angeles, California.

He was a one of my favorite's and watching his movies and sitcom was always a joy. Actors of all ages would always immulate his acts because he knew how to make the people around him laugh when there was nothing to laugh at. Martin Lawernce, Eddie Murphy, D.L. Hughley and Steve Harvey joined him in the Original Kings of Comedy; one of my other favorites. Also he was one of my favorite character's in my most beloved movie Above the Rim.

Remember life is short so tell those close to you, how important they are too you because you'll never know what might happen.

Kobe Euro Bound?

Wow! This is huge news to the National Basketball Association and the United States general population. One of the most loved and hated basketball players on USA Basketball is being influenced by the influx on roll players to Europe. What is going on here? Am I just feeling a little overwhelmed by the heat in SoCal or is this really happening?

This is larger than Brett Farve moving to New York! Bigger than Paris Hilton bashing 'the old white haired man,' ... okay now that was funny. This came faster at me than the oil spot on the video game on SpyHunter. Okay maybe not that fast but come on that is a cool game, even though it was developed way back in 1983.

Now back to Kobe, LeBron, Josh Childress and Earl Boykins. The latter two left for Greek power club Olympiakos and Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna in the Italian basketball league. The dollar signs are there because Childress is reported to earn approximately $20 million after taxes. Earl Boykins is set to earn $3.5 million for one year. Now is it the European league is becoming that competitive or is the NBA contact less lucrative. This is a puzzling because everyone has their own objection to what is the reasoning behind this, but Muhammed Ali and other great sports figures loved going overseas to entertain. MJ and the beloved 1992 Dream Team loved the atmosphere, so does that mean the American fans are somewhat less passionate about basketball than our Olympic competitors? Whatever the case actions speak louder than words and players do complain about the crowd not cheering throughtout the event, at times.

The NBA has to do something because we will lose some our most prized players, as the ol' saying goes rules are made to broken and David Stern has done a wonderful job but whom is to blame? Europe? America? Fans? Players? or the all mighty greed? Check out what LeBron and Kobe had to say in Yahoo! Sports. Whatever the case players are talking and something needs to be done, ASAP!

Proper Warm Up Prior to an Intense Workout

Author: Jake H
Date: February 28, 2008

When starting any physical activity, proper warm up is essential in order to prevent an injury. Warm muscles are more pliant and less likely to tear when stressed. Approximately five minutes of moderate intensity is sufficient enough to get the body going. In the cold weather do a little more than five minutes to ensure the body is adequately heated.

Stretching increases the body's range of motion. Hold a stretch for thirty seconds for each muscle group. Make sure to use a slow and sustained motion, rather than bouncing or using too much force. Always stretch before an exercise, and don't forget to stretch after.

Ideally, this will help homeostasis by keeping the body flexible and coordinated to perform its best during activity. Additionally, be sure to drink plenty of fluids to maximize muscle output and sustain a high level physical activity.
